PATRICIA MCDONALD

Born in the Pacific Northwest of Canada, I would later call Peru home for more than two decades. In Lima, I learned to love the iridescent twilight of a desert city by the sea. I am now based in Vancouver, Canada where I live on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples.

A professional translator, I have over 10 years of experience translating content from Spanish into my native English. I've worked with private companies, public agencies and nonprofit organizations, translating diverse content, including academic, business and technical documents. I am a member of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC (STIBC), certified by the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC).

As an editor, I focus on structural and stylistic editing. I enjoy the challenge of preserving the author's voice. I work closely with clients to understand their project needs and cultural context, ensuring relevance and accuracy. â€‹I draw on learnings gained from completing the Editing Certificate program at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in 2024.

My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology & Latin American Studies (SFU) and I am working toward a Master of Arts in Equity Studies at Athabasca University (AU). I continue to learn from valuable non-academic sources in work and in life.
